RT Book Review of LAST PROMISE:
"It is bittersweet when a series ends; questions are answered, readers are reunited with beloved characters. Mary Ann was a favorite; she defied her family and society to explore
the Wild West and to prove she could take care of herself. Dunn is a talented author who has brought new and refreshing ideas to the historical romance genre." 4 stars

Wow! If I could give this book 10 stars, I wouldn’t hesitate. Action, adventure, mystery, intrigue, love, hate, death, life, sacrifice, a beautiful and strong woman, a hunky and hot cowboy – this book has it all and then some. This clean but definitely not boring romance was a page-turner for me that was very hard to put down, and it is definitely on my ‘to read again’ list.
Victoria Eastman is raising two young boys and the boardinghouse that she works in, while providing a roof over their heads and food for their bellies, isn’t where she wants the boys to grow up. She wants them to have a sense of family and home. She places an ad for a husband, and while she receives several replies, one from Mr. Chet Barlow of Promise, Wyoming catches her eye. Although she knows nothing of the man but what he reveals of himself, she senses he might be a good man and decides to travel to meet him, and leaves the boys behind with her boss, Mrs. Wellington, who knows nothing about her past or her true intent for her travels.
Colt McBride couldn’t be more stunned to see Victoria at the home of his good friend and neighbor, Chet Barlow, until he learns she is his intended bride. He met Victoria back in St. Louis the night before he returned home, and she made several more appearances in his thoughts since that time. Colt arrives to Chet’s home to take care of some unfortunate business, but ends up taking care of Victoria too.
There is so much that happens from here that it is difficult to sum up without giving away any of the unfolding secrets, so I will just stop here. The author did a wonderful job of bringing in color to paint the story, a variety of supporting characters and storylines kept things interesting and moving, and the little glimpses of chemistry between Victoria and Colt was enough to bring a smile to my face and a little extra thump to my heart.
Thank you to the author.

When Promise comes to and regains her memory after a couple of days after a shootout, she remembers who did it and how many were there and most importantly that her own brother was killed by these men.

I truly love this series and part of me can't wait to read this final book but then it will be sad knowing that's the end of this great series! I also loved how Scarlett was able to intertwine the first book and this book together in a way that made it perfect! Even though there is only one more book in this series, I'm definitely a Scarlett Dunn fan now and can't wait to see what is to come in the future!
Thank You to Scarlett Dunn for writing a western romance series that isn't cheesy and can't wait to read the final book in the series!!
"An enjoyable historical romance with charming characters. While some of the characters have more grit than grins, it's interesting to see them interact. The storyline is believable and flow smoothly, with nice twists and turns. Dunn is a talented author who gives fans what they expect in historical romance." - RT Book Reviews
Kensingston Authors I love: Karen Rose Smith, Susan Schild, Sue Pethick.
She may be an heiress, but Parker Promise Sinclair cares more about living an adventurous life than snaring a suitable husband. So it’s no surprise when she joins a Colorado wagon train —only to survive a massacre that leaves her with no memory, a target on her back—and her abiding faith tested by the only man who can possibly protect her.
His gunfighting skills and trail savvy have saved U.S. Marshal Jake McBride more times than he can count. And his instincts tell him the only way to keep Promise alive is to take her along on his high-stakes cattle drive. But she soon proves she can ride and shoot with the best of them—and Jake finds it increasingly difficult to keep himself from falling for her. Soon, with danger closing in, they'll have only one chance to face their doubts, their fears—and their growing love…
